Director of Artificial Intelligence, AI Strategy

The role works closely with Platform Engineering, Information Security, Data Engineering and business technology teams to ensure AI solutions are secure by design, operationally resilient and aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Architecture: Develop AI reference architectures, solution blueprints and reusable design patterns aligned with TOGAF principles.
- Solution Design: Lead architecture for Generative AI, agentic AI, automation and analytics solutions from concept through production.
- Platform Collaboration: Partner with Platform Engineering to evolve Azure AI Foundry, Azure Databricks, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude, Amazon Bedrock and supporting cloud services.
- Security by Design: Work with Information Security to embed identity, access management, governance, data protection, monitoring, Responsible AI and regulatory controls into all solution designs.
- Developer Enablement: Publish architecture standards, implementation guidance, reusable templates and reference implementations for software engineers and citizen developers.
- Architecture Governance: Review solution designs, provide technical assurance and maintain architecture decision records and standards.
- Innovation: Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and recommend adoption patterns balancing business value, security, scalability and cost.
- Stakeholder management – Manage stakeholders, align solutions to business requirements, focus on business delivery and Return on Investment.
- Vendor management – Work with vendors to understand product roadmaps and potential impact on and potential for Kroll.
- Enterprise and solution architecture within Azure cloud environments.
- Azure AI Foundry, Azure Databricks, Azure OpenAI and AI platform engineering.
- Amazon Web Services.
- ChatGPT Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Claude.
- LLMs, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, AI agents and orchestration.
- API-first architecture, event-driven integration and cloud-native design.
- Python and modern software engineering practices.
- Identity, security, observability and operational resilience.
- 8+ years in enterprise or solution architecture within large organisations.
- Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise AI or cloud architecture.
- Knowledge of TOGAF architecture methods and governance.
- Excellent stakeholder management across engineering and business teams.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Pragmatic and delivery-focused.
- Collaborative across engineering, security and business teams.
- Strong communicator able to simplify complex technical concepts.
- Passionate about reusable engineering and AI adoption.
- Continuous learner with strong architectural judgement.
