The Head of Enterprise Architecture (EA) is responsible for defining, governing, and driving the enterprise-wide technology architecture strategy to ensure alignment with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and long-term transformation objectives. The role establishes the architectural vision, principles, standards, and roadmaps that enable scalable, secure, and future-ready technology capabilities across the organization.


As a strategic partner to business and technology leaders, the role provides enterprise architecture governance and thought leadership across major technology initiatives, ensuring that architecture decisions support business growth, operational effectiveness, risk management, and digital innovation. The role influences enterprise-wide technology direction by driving alignment across stakeholders, facilitating architectural decision-making, and promoting the adoption of architecture standards and best practices throughout the organization.


1. Enterprise Architecture Strategy & Roadmap

• Define and lead the enterprise architecture vision, principles, and roadmap aligned with business and digital transformation priorities

• Translate business strategies into technology capabilities, target architectures, and transformation blueprints

• Establish enterprise architecture standards, capability roadmaps, and technology governance frameworks that guide strategic technology investments and decision-making.

• Ensure alignment across business, data, application, and technology architectures

• Continuously assess emerging technologies, industry trends, and architecture practices to identify opportunities that support business growth, innovation, and operational effectiveness.


2. Architecture Governance & Standards

• Establish and enforce enterprise architecture governance frameworks, standards, and policies

• Govern and approve architecture decisions for strategic technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles, business objectives, and target-state architecture.

• Lead architecture review boards and provide guidance on complex technology decisions and trade-offs, and solution design matters.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, risk management, and security standards, and architecture governance requirements.

• Serve as the enterprise architecture authority for critical technology investments, architectural exceptions, and major design decisions.

• Facilitate enterprise-wide architecture governance forums to drive alignment, manage trade-offs, and resolve complex architectural issues.


3. Solution Architecture Oversight

• Provide direction and oversight on critical solution designs across programs and projects

• Ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, cost-efficient, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles

• Partner closely with IT teams to enable integrated and cohesive solutions


4. Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on technology strategy and investment decisions

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure architecture supports customer experience, operational efficiency, and business growth

• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders


5. Data, Integration & Technology Enablement

• Oversee architecture for core platforms (e.g., policy admin, claims, customer platforms) ensuring interoperability and scalability

• Drive integration strategy (APIs, microservices, middleware) to support ecosystem connectivity

• Promote data architecture practices that enable analytics, insights, and governance


6. Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency, reduce technical debt, and optimize technology investments

• Champion innovation initiatives and adoption of modern architecture practices (e.g., cloud-native, agile architecture, DevSecOps)


7. Capability Building & Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, develop and scale the Enterprise Architecture function

• Promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the architecture practice

• Drive knowledge sharing, upskilling, and succession planning initiatives.

• Enhance team engagement by regularly assessing sentiment, identifying drivers of engagement, and implementing targeted interventions to strengthen morale, performance, and retention.
