Are you an experienced Software Architect looking to shape the foundations of secure, mission-critical technology?
We are hiring on behalf of our client to find a hands-on Senior Software Architect to join its Application Department in Abu Dhabi.
This is an opportunity to lead the development of a shared software platform supporting multiple products. You will combine strategic architectural direction with practical involvement, helping product teams build modular, scalable and high-performance systems for demanding environments.
The role
As Senior Software Architect, you will:
- Research, design and lead the development of a shared software platform that can adapt across multiple products.
- Promote and implement decoupled, modular architectures that support independent development while maintaining a coherent software ecosystem.
- Champion DevOps practices, including CI/CD, containerisation and infrastructure as code, to improve development efficiency and product quality.
- Apply modern architectural approaches and cloud-native technologies to build air-gapped, low-latency and high-performance systems.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical delivery aligns with the wider strategy and product roadmap.
- Contribute to architectural and technology decisions through consensus-building and knowledge-sharing across product teams.
- Work within multidisciplinary Agile teams, applying Agile principles, methodologies and tools.
- Remain hands-on with product teams to understand the practical limitations and consequences of architectural decisions.
- Support teams in translating architectural direction into robust, maintainable software.
What you will bring
- At least eight years’ professional experience in software development.
- At least three years’ experience leading a team or providing equivalent technical leadership.
- Strong expertise in Kotlin and Java.
- Experience designing reactive and message-based architectures.
- Strong knowledge of data modelling and read/write optimisation patterns, including CQRS.
- Proficiency with relational and time-series databases.
- Experience working with Ubuntu Linux and containerisation technologies.
- Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI and TeamCity.
- Knowledge of actor-based frameworks such as Akka.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and debugging skills.
- The ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to different stakeholders.
- A flexible, practical approach and the ability to perform effectively in changing, high-pressure project environments.
- Upper-intermediate or higher written and spoken English.
