Chief Technology Officer

We’re Hiring: Founding CTO — Alphavex

I’m building Alphavex, a next-generation fitness and performance platform.

The first version of the app is already built on IOS and approaching launch. We have workout tracking, Apple Watch integration, recovery metrics, strength & cardio progression, AI features and a growing product roadmap.

Now I’m looking for someone to take technical ownership of the company.

Who I'm looking for

A hands-on CTO / founding engineer who can think beyond writing code.

Someone who can look at an existing product, understand what works and what doesn't, make the right architectural decisions, and build a technology foundation that can scale.

You should be comfortable getting your hands dirty with code — this is not a purely managerial CTO role.

Your responsibilities

• Take ownership of Alphavex's entire technical architecture

• Audit and stabilize the existing iOS application

• Identify and eliminate crashes, performance issues and reliability problems

• Evaluate the current backend and redesign/rebuild components where necessary

• Build a scalable API and backend architecture

• Own authentication, subscriptions, payments and user entitlements

• Build secure AI infrastructure and API integrations

• Work with Apple Health / HealthKit and Apple Watch data

• Design reliable workout, recovery and performance data pipelines

• Establish proper analytics, monitoring, logging and testing

• Set engineering standards, documentation and development processes

• Lead future integrations with wearables and emerging technologies

• Eventually build and lead a small engineering team

Technical experience we're looking for

Strong experience with:

iOS

• Swift / SwiftUI
• HealthKit
• Apple Watch / WatchConnectivity
• Core Bluetooth where relevant
• iOS performance and debugging

Backend

• API architecture
• Databases
• Authentication
• Cloud infrastructure
• Subscription / entitlement systems
• Third-party API integrations

AI

• LLM APIs
• Structured AI outputs
• AI application architecture
• Experience building reliable AI-powered products

Experience with Supabase is useful, but we are not looking for someone simply because they know Supabase. We want someone who can decide whether to keep, refactor or replace parts of the current architecture based on what is technically right.

You would be a particularly strong fit if you have

• Built a consumer mobile app from 0 → 1

• Taken an app through App Store launch

• Built fitness, health, wearable or quantified-self products

• Worked with HealthKit / Apple Watch

• Built subscription-based consumer products

• Worked in an early-stage startup

• Managed a small engineering team

• Strong product instincts, not just coding ability

And one non-technical requirement matters to me:

You should genuinely care about fitness.

You don't need to be a professional athlete.

But you should understand training, recovery, progressive overload, performance tracking and why someone would want to measure their progress over months and years.

I'd much rather work with someone who trains regularly and understands the product from the user's perspective than someone who has only read about fitness metrics.
