About the Company

TANGLE Inc. holds “Think and Change — Think it. Change it.” as its Vision & Mission, dedicated to untangling the complexities of modern society through thought and transformation to create new value. We envision a future where travel — far beyond tourism — connects people, places, and communities, becoming a meaningful part of everyday life.

TOMOGO! is a travel company that helps travellers experience Japan as locals, through genuine human connections, expertly designed tours, and local perspectives — turning once-in-a-lifetime trips into deeply personal, unforgettable experiences. Backed by a team of local experts and international members, the company pairs deep community connections and insider knowledge with app-based day tours and curated multi-day journeys, guided by real locals who know Japan best.

Role Summary

As a Frontend Developer on the Product team, you’ll build and ship the user-facing web experiences behind TOMOGO! — from marketing pages to interactive product features. Reporting to the Tech Lead, you’ll turn business and product requirements into fast, polished, SEO-friendly interfaces, and play a hands-on role in shaping how our travellers discover and book experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, ship, and maintain responsive, high-performance web interfaces using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS.
  • Translate product, marketing, and business requirements into clean, reusable UI components with strong UX and accessibility.
  • Collaborate closely with the Tech Lead, designers, and product stakeholders to scope features and align on priorities.
  • Own the quality of your work end-to-end — from implementation and code review through to SEO, performance, and cross-browser behaviour.
  • Contribute to a healthy, well-structured codebase using Git-based workflows and sound web-app architecture.
  • Bring UI/UX instincts and business context to the table, proactively suggesting improvements rather than only executing tickets.
  • Wear multiple hats in a fast-moving startup environment, adapting priorities as the product evolves.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant frontend development experience.
  • A portfolio of personal projects you can share and walk us through.
  • Strong understanding of business logic — prior marketing, sales, or consulting experience is highly preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Proficiency with TypeScript, React, Next.js, HTML, CSS, and Tailwind CSS.
  • Comfortable working with Git and the command line / terminal.
  • Strong understanding of web-app architecture.
  • SEO awareness and an understanding of how frontend choices affect it.
  • Strong UI/UX instincts and an eye for detail.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design.

Language

  • Fluent English (working language of the team).

Who You Are

  • A self-starter who takes ownership and drives things to completion.
  • Flexible and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Energised by a startup environment with ambiguity and rapid change.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with TanStack Query and Redux.
  • Automated testing experience (e.g. Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows (e.g. Vercel).
  • Comfortable working from Figma designs and handoffs.
  • Familiarity with Node.js and npm.
  • PHP, Laravel, and Eloquent experience.
  • Business-level Japanese.
