Role Description The Stylist role at Ulta Beauty in Old Saybrook, CT is a full-time, on-site position focused on delivering exceptional salon services and a welcoming guest experience. Day-to-day responsibilities include consulting with guests to understand their hair and beauty goals, performing a range of hair services (such as cutting, styling, coloring, and treatments), and recommending appropriate products and services. Stylists maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized salon environment, adhere to all salon and safety standards, and support store initiatives and promotions. The role also involves building and maintaining a loyal client base, encouraging repeat visits through professional service and product recommendations, and working collaboratively with salon and retail team members. Stylists are expected to stay current on trends, techniques, and Ulta Beauty offerings to provide guests with knowledgeable and individualized service.
Qualifications

• Valid state cosmetology license (or equivalent) and demonstrated proficiency in cutting, coloring, styling, and basic treatment services.
• Strong client service and communication skills, with the ability to perform thorough consultations and create personalized recommendations.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented salon and retail environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe workstation and following all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
• Interest in beauty trends, willingness to learn new techniques, and openness to ongoing training and skill development.
• Basic retail and sales skills, including comfort discussing products, suggesting add-on services, and supporting store promotions.
• Reliable attendance, professional demeanor, and adherence to Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and brand standards.
• Previous experience in a salon or beauty environment is preferred but not required; bilingual skills are a plus.
