Job Summary:
The Web Developer II is responsible for front-end and back-end development, maintenance, and enhancement of secure, accessible, and user-centered web applications. This role supports Internet, Intranet, Wiki, and social media platforms, ensuring compliance with federal web standards, accessibility requirements, and best practices for usability, performance, and security.
Education
- Associate’s Degree in Web Development, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Acquia Drupal certifications are encouraged but not required.
- 3+ years of professional experience in web design and development.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining web applications using:
- Drupal (CMS implementation, migration, and integration)
- HTML5
- CSS2/3
- JavaScript
- PHP
- Python
- jQuery
- Working knowledge of modern development and deployment tools and technologies, including:
- Node.js
- Git
- Chrome developer tools
- Jenkins (CI/CD)
- SEO and web marketing best practices
- Exposure to backend frameworks and application integration.
- Federal web standards experience preferred.
- Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain front-end and back-end web applications.
- Plan and manage content and functionality for Internet, Intranet, Wiki, and social media platforms.
- Implement, migrate, integrate, and support content management systems, with a strong emphasis on Drupal.
- Support content updates, enhancements, and ongoing site improvements.
- Ensure web applications are secure, scalable, and performant.
- Apply web usability principles, including site architecture, navigation, knowledge management, and information delivery.
- Collaborate with application developers to integrate web applications and services.
- Use graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and GIMP to support visual and UI needs.
- Perform testing and validation to ensure compliance with:
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Apply knowledge of internet security principles and protocols.
- Ensure appropriate use of copyrighted materials in accordance with U.S. copyright laws.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accessibility and usability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative development environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to stay current with emerging web technologies and industry best practices.
