Summary
This Indirect Buyer leads sourcing initiatives for non-production goods and services (e.g., Construction, Logistics, IT, Benefits, Plant Services, etc.) to optimize costs, manage vendor relationships, and mitigate risk. This position is responsible for sourcing activities, negotiating contracts, formulating policies, managing strategic relationships, and other activities related to full sourcing life cycle management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct sourcing activities to obtain quotes for goods and services – Conduct Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quote (RFQ), Information (RFI) activities
- Develop, gain approval, & execute purchasing strategies for assigned commodities/suppliers
- Organize and create presentations for management approval.
- Manage supply base using strategic life cycle management activities
- Negotiate pricing
- Review service contracts
- Support internal teams for purchasing needs
- Ability to source all non-BOM-related services and commodities
- Identify potential new vendors and support onboarding
- Responsible for building supplier relationships and monitoring industry trends/characteristics
- Utilize market and historical data to benchmark pricing and leverage negotiations
- Create and issue purchasing orders (POs)
- Track orders
- Ensure invoices are getting paid
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in General Business, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Logistics, or relevant experience
- 2 to 4+ years of experience in a related field
- Knowledge of ERP systems
- Experience with contracts preferred
- Experience using Microsoft Office suite
- Strong Negotiation skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Good time management and prioritization skills
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Strong ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- This role requires up to 0-5% of travel (domestic and/or international)
