Responsible for procuring, developing, and coordinating programs within an assigned vendor or category to achieve corporate goals by maximizing sales, gross margin and inventory turns. Responsible for merchandising and promotions for assigned categories.

- Evaluates, selects and procures products and services of acceptable quality and quantity.
- Maintains daily inventory stocking levels and ordering of assigned products.
- Communicates and negotiates the best programs available through suppliers and vendors.
- Reviews and analyzes sales and gross profit contributions for each category and individual product movement within categories.
- Keeps informed of new products and programs by competitive store visits, vendor contacts and trade magazine articles.
- Works with vendors to minimize cost and maximize margins in assigned categories.
- Works with vendors on new products, discontinued products, in and out of distributions, additional demands, promotions, reduction of out of stocks and processing credits and returns.
- Develops and coordinates promotional programs, advertising and POS with vendors and ensure communication and implementation at store level.
- Analyzes results of promotional activity within assigned categories.
- Complete competitive market surveys as necessary. Make retail adjustments based on findings of surveys.
- Develops and implements product plan-o-grams for assigned categories based upon sound Category analysis.
- Communicates with all departments to ensure effective implementation of marketing programs.
- Identifies and evaluates the latest industry trends.
- Presents professionally and effectively before groups of customers, vendors and employees.
- Executes sales, margin and inventory plans, to achieve corporate goals.
- Assists all Category Managers as needed covering vacations, role reversal so all Categories are covered.
- Works with Regional and Shop General Managers to ensure proper stock levels are maintained.
- Conducts store inventory audits on an as needed basis.
- Evaluates nonstock report to determine proper inventory to carry.
- Works with Regionals and Shop General Managers at store level to implement store sets.
- Evaluates no movement reports and determine strategies to relieve this inventory.
- Provides friendly and competent customer service.
- Reports for work in a timely manner when scheduled.
- Assists in other duties, as assigned.
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Marketing, or one to three years of experience and/or training, equivalent combination of education and experience, with one to three years of purchasing experience required.
- Strong organizational skills with effective follow-up and follow-through.
- Strong knowledge in the medium truck tire market.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
- Technical skills in strategic planning and marketing.
- Current valid driver's license and be insurable to drive.
- Microsoft Word and Excel experience required.
- Must be able to work 50 hours or more a week, work weekends, travel and stay overnight if needed to complete business

- Able and willing to deliver friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service.
- Able and willing to work cooperatively with other team members.
- This employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., while performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods of time and occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear.
- Physical attendance at the primary work location is required.
