Job Duties & Essential Functions
Benefit Administration
- Conduct new employee orientation for onboarding and coordinate enrollments and terminations for employee Health and Welfare and pension plans.
- Design and coordinate benefits presentations to help employees with enrollment and encourage participation in the wealth of programs offered through our carrier.
- Coordinate Annual Open Enrollment process.
- Work closely with finance and payroll to audit billing and plan cost sharing deductions for benefit enrollment accuracy.
- Review monthly bills from carriers to monitor and approve payment in a timely manner.
- Work with employees, Employee Health, and Payroll to monitor and track leave of absences in accordance with Policy and legislative requirements.
- Establish relationships with third party administrators to manage disability claims, PFL and COBRA according to the plan.
- Work in partnership with Managers, employees, Employee health, Payroll and Union plan administrators to manage disability, Workers Comp, PFL and COBRA leaves.
- Evaluate and recommend policies and procedures for process improvement for benefit program administrations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or, in lieu of degree, will at least 4 years of full-time progressive experience in Human Resources/Benefit Administration.
- At least 3 years of experience in Benefits and/or Leave Administration.
- Experience using HRIS systems as well as Microsoft Excel, demonstrating exceptional analytical skills and the ability to create useful and actionable reports from data.
- Strong written, verbal communication skills, excellent time management, organizational, and follow-through skills including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Possess a creative outlook with a problem-solving, can-do it, attitude providing excellent customer service.
- Payroll Certifications CPP.
- Benefits Certification CEBS.
- SHRM-CP/PHR certification is desirable.
- Experience working with ADP, CPSI and other similar HRIS Systems.
- Experience in a Union environment.
