Project Controls Cost Estimator (Facilities Maintenance)

This position reports to a Director of Operations and supports the full Operations leadership team by helping coordinate priorities, organize project updates, track follow-up items, and keep operational work moving forward across our federal service contracts. We're looking for an estimator or cost accountant who enjoys bringing structure, follow-through, and analytical thinking to complex operational work.

- Based primarily at the Corporate Headquarters office in south Austin, TX.
- Monday-Friday hybrid schedule, up to 2 days per week remote.
- Must be located in the Austin, TX metro area.

What You'll Do As Project Controls Cost Estimator
Operations Leadership Support
- Serve as a project support resource for Operations leadership, helping coordinate priorities, meetings, follow-up items, and cross-functional communication.
- Maintain visibility into open action items, deadlines, and project needs by organizing task lists, status updates, and recurring follow-ups with internal stakeholders.
- Support federal service contract operations across lines of business such as Facility Maintenance, Fleet Maintenance, Food Service, Logistics, and Environmental Services.
- Provide internal coordination support in the absence of a region’s senior Operations leader, helping route questions, gather updates, and maintain continuity on operational needs.
- Analyze, interpret, summarize, and present administrative, operational, and technical information clearly for internal stakeholders and external sources as needed.
- Estimate the resources needed to perform contract work for existing contracts, change orders, renewals, and new business proposals.
- Review solicitation documents, scopes of work, contract requirements, and technical data to perform preliminary cost analysis.
- Analyze staffing levels, service requirements, equipment needs, material usage, subcontractor costs, and other cost drivers to support pricing decisions and proposal development.
- Partner with Operations, Business Development, Finance, Contracts, and other internal teams to gather information needed to build accurate and complete cost estimates.
- Conduct project performance analysis using earned value techniques.
- Use analytics to interpret, summarize, and report on project performance and organizational trends to internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as cost system administrator for assigned projects, including preparing ad hoc reports, supporting executive-level needs, and assisting Project Managers with project cost information.
- Implement and maintain cost accounting procedures and estimating methods.
- Coordinate with Operations leaders to assist with change order development.
- Support Business Development with proposal development for new projects and renewals of existing contract work by preparing cost estimates and supporting documentation.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or equivalent combination of experience and education, required.
- General understanding of Facility Operations and Maintenance (professional or educational/internship) required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in project controls, cost accounting, or cost estimating required.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel required.
- Demonstrated knowledge in RS Means, MS Project, Maximo and/or MicroStation/AutoCad preferred.
- Experience in federal government service contracts or DoD service contracts preferred.
- Requires knowledge of PC functions and Software.
- Operation of Windows applications, MS Word, MS Excel, etc., and related applications.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills.
- Extensive analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to be a self-starter and have strong time management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and handle multiple priorities.
- Ability to work both with minimal supervision and as a team player.
- Ability to pass criminal, financial, drug, and driving screening.
- Ability to be insured as an authorized driver for the Company.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
- Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
