- Bid/RFP searches in the applicable geographic areas that Municon operates (BC, AB, California, Washington, and others).
- Review tender documents, including drawings, specifications, consultant reports, and addenda, to determine whether there is an applicable scope for our company. Where relevant, conduct a detailed analysis to fully understand the project requirements and key deliverables.
- Prepare and maintain detailed quantity take-offs using Excel or similar estimating tools.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s operational workflow from project initiation to closeout to ensure all scope items and cost components are accurately captured in the bid, supporting profitability and efficient execution.
- Build project estimates based on historical productivity data and crew outputs, labor rates, and equipment costs.
- Identify and quantify direct and indirect costs, including labor, materials, equipment, overheads, and contingency.
- Prepare cost breakdowns and proposal letters for submission.
- Coordinate with the operations team to validate execution methods, equipment choices, site logistics, and work sequencing, ensuring consistency with the estimate and preventing cost overruns during execution.
- Analyze tender documentation for risks, exclusions, and assumptions, and flag critical issues for internal review.
- Clarify scope discrepancies and confirm that all required inclusions are captured in pricing.
- Participate in post-bid reviews, interviews, and clarifications with clients and consultants.
- Collaborate with other teams (such as our group of engineers) to obtain up-to-date rates, confirm scope coverage, and ensure their deliverables are accurately integrated into the estimate, maintaining consistency and avoiding scope gaps in the proposal submission.
- Prepare clear and structured handover packages for the project delivery team, including estimate breakdowns, key assumptions, and productivity expectations.
We are interested in finding a motivated and self-driven individual who will demonstrate the ability to complete their work accurately and efficiently, while effectively managing their time to meet deadlines.
- A diploma, degree, or applicable level of post-secondary education that relates to this field
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
- Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, and Google Maps.
