Software Engineer- Backend, Chennai
Our NielsenIQ Technology teams are working on revamping multiple platform, a unified, global, open data ecosystem powered by Microsoft Azure. Our clients around the world rely on NielsenIQ’s data and insights to innovate and grow.
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll be part of a team of talented and highly skilled technologists who are passionate about innovation, continuous learning, and adopting modern engineering practices. Our platform is focused on building scalable, cloud-native applications using Spring Boot 4 and Java 17 for backend services, with ReactJS and Angular powering modern, responsive user interfaces. Quality is ensured through comprehensive testing using JUnit, while data is managed across PostgreSQL for relational workloads and MongoDB for NoSQL use cases. We leverage GitHub Actions to enable efficient CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and streamline integrations. Additionally, we utilize Azure Key Vault to securely manage secrets, certificates, and application configurations, ensuring enterprise-grade security and operational excellence. Our team is co-located and agile, with central technology hubs in Chicago, Madrid, Toronto, Chennai and Pune
What you’ll do
- Understanding user needs and how they fit into the overall, global solution design
- Configuring & Implementing Application and Integration Service to support Business needs
- Prototyping new features and integrations aligned to business strategy by introducing innovation through technology
- Following source & test-driven development best practices
- Troubleshooting and identifying root cause analysis while resolving the issues
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a Full stack engineer who has development experience in Java 17,Java 21, Spring framework, Spring boot technologies
- Development experience in unit and integration test cases in Java & Spring
- Basic knowledge in JPA or other Hibernate frameworks
- Basic knowledge of JavaScript frameworks like ReactJs or Angular
- Intermediate level of Database (SQL) skills to develop SQL queries, function and stored procedures.
- Basic knowledge on SQL & NoSQL Databases like PostgreSQL, Mongodb
- Good Understanding on CI/CD Pipeline i.e. Github Actions
- Strong knowledge of version control tools, preferably Bit bucket
- Basic Knowledge on Linux/Unix environment (basic commands, shell scripting, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in an enterprise Agile/SCRUM environment
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a Global Team
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic Knowledge on utilizing the Ai and prompting.
- Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface across cross-functional technology teams and the business
- Minimum B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
