Position Summary
NGS is seeking an exceptionally capable and detail-oriented FP&A Analyst to support management reporting, forecasting, budgeting, financial modeling, and decision support. This is a developmental role designed for someone with strong intellectual horsepower, high standards, and significant upside potential—not necessarily someone who has already performed every aspect of the job.
The analyst will work with financial and operating data from across the company, help maintain the recurring reporting calendar, and learn how a public company translates operating activity into financial performance, capital allocation, Board reporting, and strategic decisions. Exceptional attention to detail is non-negotiable: the individual must consistently verify inputs, formulas, presentation, and conclusions before work is delivered.
Responsibilities
- Recurring Reporting and Data Quality
- Financial Model Maintenance
- Variance and Performance Analysis
- Budgeting and Forecasting Support
- Executive and Board Materials
- Decision Support and Special Projects
- Process Improvement and Documentation
Qualifications And Experience
- Potential over pedigree: NGS is willing to invest in a candidate with exceptional aptitude, work ethic, and learning velocity even if the individual does not yet possess every preferred qualification.
- Experience: 0–5 years of relevant experience through full-time work, internships, transaction or consulting projects, public accounting, corporate finance, or rigorous academic work. Strong recent graduates will be considered.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering, mathematics, data analytics, or a related analytical field.
- Attention to detail: Exceptional accuracy and quality control are mandatory. The candidate must be naturally inclined to check source data, formulas, logic, labels, formatting, and conclusions.
- Analytical foundation: Strong quantitative reasoning and a working understanding of accounting and the three financial statements, with the ability and desire to deepen that knowledge quickly.
- Tools: Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to create clear PowerPoint materials. Experience with Power BI, SQL, ERP systems, or financial modeling is beneficial but can be developed on the job.
- Communication: Clear writing, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the confidence to ask thoughtful questions when data or conclusions do not make sense.
- Work style: High ownership, humility, coachability, responsiveness, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Travel up to 25% to Midland (TX) office, deal locations may be required occasionally.
