Help drive financial excellence across our regional operations. As a Regional Finance Specialist, you will partner with Regional Finance Officers and Finance leadership to provide strategic financial guidance that strengthens the fiscal performance of field offices and disaster response operations. You'll support financial management of externally funded awards and affiliate funding, ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data in our ministry-wide financial system, and help equip field offices with the financial expertise they need to achieve their mission if you're a collaborative finance professional who thrives on improving processes, supporting operational success, and making an impact.

In the role of Regional Finance Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Travel to field sites for temporary assignments, policy and procedure implementation, and other finance objectives while supporting Regional Finance Officers and field offices with transaction posting, P-Card reviews, journal entries, and month-end activities.
  • Monitor and communicate the financial performance of assigned field offices, provide timely financial analysis, and promptly identify and report financial issues to Regional Finance Officers and Finance leadership.
  • Monitor internal controls and conduct periodic assessments to identify financial risks, while guiding Finance Managers through problem-solving challenges and helping maintain sound financial practices.
  • Facilitate field office fund requests, monitor cash and bank balances, analyze cash positions, and assist with in-country tax calculations and payments for International Field Staff. Support training initiatives for Finance staff and other personnel as needed.
  • Participate in regional planning, coordination, and team meetings while maintaining a thorough understanding of assigned Samaritan's Purse projects and activities to provide knowledgeable financial guidance and support to field offices.

What are the qualifications?

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field and two (2) to three (3) years of related Accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. International experience in cross-cultural communication and ministry is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to lead in-person and remote training
  • Ability to calculate, present, and analyze financial information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel and Outlook
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical studies are strongly preferred; if not already completed, an opportunity to meet and complete the requirement is available upon hire
