Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT), Position Description Number D2726000 (GS-09) and D2727000 (GS-11) and is part of the ID G4 SASMO, National Guard. THIS POSITION IS PERMANENT.

Duties

  • GS-09: 1. Utilizes an extensive knowledge of sustainment programs/operations and a clear understanding of automated systems to manage projects and programs for systems integration of Combat Service Support (CSS) automation in the Sustainment Automation Support Management Office (SASMO). Administers tactical local area network (LAN) clients, monitors ongoing operation of tactical network systems to ensure hardware and software functions, and meets operational standards. Identifies and resolves complex tactical network related problems occurring within the assigned area of responsibility. Responds to customer requests for assistance, ensuring trouble reports are handled expeditiously. Troubleshoots hardware, software, and LAN/Client operating system problems. Ensures software and vulnerability updates are applied in proper order. Coordinates and communicates with the Department of the Army (DA) and National Guard Bureau (NGB) regarding CSS operations and automated systems support, problem resolution, software upgrades, and change packages. Assists functional users in automated CSS systems management and operation. Serves as a Systems Administrator for all CSS automated logistics information systems and programs and, as a technical expert within the state/territory, is responsible for providing technical and functional guidance for specified automated sustainment systems to operators and supervisors. Provides input to supervisor to ensure SASMO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are current. Receives trouble tickets and reviews priorities on a weekly and/or monthly basis. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves technical problems identified in trouble tickets and performs initial setup of specified automated system computers to include loading software, configuring modem and network card(s), assigning Internet Protocol (IP) addresses with correct subnet, connectivity to the network, and completing technical inspections. Performs other duties as assigned. GS-11: 1. Serves as an advisor to the SASMO supervisor and Systems Administrator on all CSS automated sustainment systems. Exercises knowledge and oversight for all matters pertaining to the fielding and operation of automated sustainment systems. Utilizes an extensive knowledge of logistics programs/operations and a clear understanding of automated systems to manage projects and programs for systems integration of CSS automation. Identifies funding requirements to support SASMO operations, justifies and submits budget requirements for State operating budget, and executes funds received. Is the technical expert within the state/territory responsible for providing technical and functional guidance for serviced automated sustainment systems. Serves as project leader/supervisor responsible for developing, assigning, and coordinating duties and projects for systems administrators. Serves as the senior SASMO systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting to support customer needs. Reviews SASMO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure they are current (i.e., help desk, repair operations, etc.). Evaluates trouble tickets escalated from the help desk and setting priorities on a weekly and monthly basis. Coordinates automation initiatives with State G6 and G3 elements. Operates as the Quality Control Specialist for the Quality Control Program and Quality Control Plan. Oversees a variety of studies, analyses, and reports regarding the integrity of all automated sustainment systems. Conducts quality inspections, customer feedback, and continuous improvement initiatives associated with the Quality Control Plan. Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience in scheduling the use of computer time for program processing. Experience collecting and sequentially staging input media with associated program instructions for processing. Experience in at least one programming language. Translating detailed logical steps developed by others into language codes that computers accept where this required understanding of procedures and limitations appropriate to use of a programming language. Experience interviewing subject-matter personnel to get facts regarding work processes and synthesizing the resulting data into charts showing information flow. Experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency. In addition to GS-09 experience, GS-11 qualification requires the following also: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.

Education

There are no additional educational requirements for this position. The following education can be used in lieu of NO specialized experience, or a combination of education and specialized experience may be used also to qualify for this position: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree You MUST provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims.
