Calian Belgium is a legal entity registered in Belgium that serves as a hub for innovation and collaboration aimed at supporting Belgian Defence with training and exercise solutions. Our solutions combine local expertise, proven delivery methods, and interoperable live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) simulation to ensure “train-as-you-will fight” is realistic, repeatable and measurable, while remaining fully aligned with national priorities.
Calian has been selected as a contender to support the Belgian Army Simulation Centre (SIMCEN). We are ready to deliver Belgian-built capabilities, underpinned by decades of experience supporting the Canadian Army, British Army and the wider North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) ecosystem.
Position Overview
As part of this initiative, Calian is currently seeking a Contract Coordinator to support the Belgian Army Simulation Centre (SIMCEN) in Leopoldsburg, Belgium.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the single point of contact (SPOC) for all contract-related matters
- Provide overall leadership and management of the contract delivery organization. (Employees and Independent Contractors)
- Lead contract governance activities and maintain effective relationships with SIMCEN leadership
- Represent the Calian organization during contract reviews, planning conferences, working groups, and senior stakeholder meetings
- Organize and lead contract planning, coordination, and performance review meetings
- Coordination and acceptance of tasks from Belgium Defence
- Responsible for financial expenditures/flow through of the contract
- Responsible for implementation and compliance with all policies pertaining to the execution of the contract and corporate governance
- Ensure accurate justification of delivered services and associated costs
- Sets priorities and allocates tasks to subordinate managers
- Escalate critical issues and risks to SIMCEN senior leadership as required
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree [MVdW1] (any field)
- Must hold the Belgium Defence (BD) Advanced Staff Course Qualification [MW2] [TT3] (or NATO equivalent)
- Previous experience working in the Belgian Army training system (Army Staff Branch 3) or at a school-level staff officer (Royal Higher Institute for Defence or LAND Competence Center) or higher is desirable, with training and operations experience
- Previous experience working as Operational/Plans/Training staff at Battalion or Brigade level is an asset[MVdW4] [JW5]
- Preferred 3 years of experience as Senior Manager or Senior Leadership role. [MVdW6] [MVdW7] [JW8]
- Experience in Management with following characteristics is desirable : Business-to-Customer contracts for at least 24 months in the last 5 years, with an annual turnover of at least 1.0 M€/year (for at least both reference years)
- Proficiency in Dutch AND French AND English at CEFR B2 level or higher
Additional Requirements
- You must be eligible to obtain a Belgian Secret Security Clearance
- You must be able to work on-site
- You must be willing to travel
