Position Overview
This role supports cost, schedule, risk, and reporting functions across large-scale construction and utility capital projects. The position partners closely with project managers, finance, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered on budget, on schedule, and with full financial transparency.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Control & Forecasting
- Partner with Project Managers to develop and maintain Estimates at Completion (EAC)
- Build and manage detailed cash flow forecasts (monthly and annual)
- Track actuals vs. budget vs. forecast, identifying and explaining cost variances
- Prepare and process monthly accruals in compliance with FERC accounting standards
- Monitor project contingency usage and remaining balances to mitigate overrun risk
- Generate labor cost reports and perform variance analysis
- Initiate cost transfers and journal entries to ensure accurate cost allocation
Financial & Contract Management
- Review and validate construction contracts, contractor deliverables, and billing milestones
- Oversee purchase orders (POs), commitments, and project expenditures
- Review and approve vendor invoices and subcontractor payments
- Support financial audits and ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance standards
Schedule & Project Execution
- Develop and maintain integrated project schedules
- Monitor milestones, deliverables, and dependencies to support on-time execution
- Coordinate with project teams to align cost and schedule performance
Risk & Performance Management
- Maintain the project risk register and support ongoing risk identification and mitigation
- Facilitate regular risk review meetings with project stakeholders
- Support proactive management of cost and schedule risks
Reporting & Strategic Planning
- Prepare weekly and monthly executive reports on project performance
- Perform cost and schedule analysis to support capital planning and decision-making
- Support capital budget development and Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) processes
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Project Controls (cost, schedule, and/or risk)
- Experience supporting large-scale construction or utility projects preferred
- Knowledge of cost forecasting, accruals, and financial reporting
- Familiarity with project scheduling tools (Primavera P6)
- Understanding of FERC accounting standards is a plus
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
