The Financial Analyst (FA) reports to the Associate Director of Financial Operations at Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) and works closely with other staff members. The FA is assigned a full caseload of departments and will assume primary responsibilities for the portfolio of accounts under these departments.
Responsibilities
Award Review and Account Set up
- Review and analyze grants, contracts and cooperative agreements to prepare, process and approve all sponsored projects accounts and budget authorizations, which include new awards, continuations, transfer-funds, supplements, modifications, no cost extensions, re-budgeting and carryovers;
- Review award documents for accuracy and consistency with proposal applications and with sponsor and institutional policies and regulations - - Ensure compliance with award regulatory terms and University policies, such as Conflicts of Interest, Human Subjects & IACUC approvals, etc.;
- Process awarded information into SPA's grants management system for project creation and/or modifications;
- Review and reconcile the data fed from the grants management system to the University's financial system (ARC), to ensure accuracy
- Other duties as assigned
- Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
- Proficiency with Excel required;
- Experience using other Microsoft applications and accounting software;
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate positively and effectively with sponsoring and regulatory agencies, as well as faculty, administrators and other members of the University is important;
- Knowledge of grants as well as OMB, Federal and State laws and regulations;
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, organizational, time management, and proactive problem-solving skills;
- Proven ability to operate independently in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with frequently changing priorities;
- Experience with financial reporting of sponsored projects.
