McAlvain Construction, a Big-D Company, has an opportunity for an experienced Project Accountant to join our team of construction professionals based in the Boise, ID area.
Experience/Training
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting for a commercial construction company.
- Experience with Trimble Viewpoint is a plus but not required.
- Experience working with State contracts is a plus but not required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to multi-task across different problems.
- Attention to detail.
- Exhibits the desire to be a part of a team.
- Highly organized.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite programs, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of the construction industry, project accounting, project management, with an aptitude for numbers.
- Ability to be resourceful and problem solve problems as they arise.
- Maintain a friendly and courteous attitude, even under stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain an elevated level of confidentiality.
- Demonstrates ownership over their responsibilities and sees tasks through the finish line.
Project Accounting Management
- Set up and maintain jobs/tasks in ERP System, including revenue and cost budgets.
- Monitor job budgets regularly and audit job costs, reporting issues to the project team.
- Support project team in monthly revenue and cost projections.
- Review and interface all change orders for accuracy before submission to the owner/subcontractor.
- Participate in jobsite meetings and track issues.
- Draft and review payment applications with PM.
- Daily/weekly review of labor hours ensuring correct coding and classification.
- Reconcile cost accounts and perform job cost adjustments when necessary to correctly reflect accurate costs of the project.
- Prepare owner lien waivers as needed.
- Approve subcontract lien waivers and follow up with subcontractors for timely payment application submissions.
- Approval of subcontractor payment applications.
- Oversee project closeout process (final billing/cost reconciliations, waiver tracking, tax releases)
- Tracking of Builders Risk Insurance & Bonds for projects including close out
- Preparation of state sales tax forms for projects
- Take the initiative to complete project requirements, contributing to the team’s success.
- Ensure that important tasks and deadlines are achieved.
- Support the project team through challenges and adversity that arise in a project.
