Bobcat Power, LLC is a full-service power delivery contractor operating across the United States. Our experience and expertise cover a wide range of below-grade and above-grade construction for High Voltage Electrical Substations and Transmission Lines. We operate in the power, industrial, oil & gas, and chemical markets.
Due to continued growth, Bobcat Power is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our team and report directly to the Project Manager. This position will support the successful planning, execution, and closeout of substation construction projects, including both below-grade civil scopes and above-grade electrical installation work.
As part of a well-established Power Delivery team in Texas, you will work in a fast-paced environment supporting critical utility infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, a working knowledge of substation construction, and the ability to coordinate multiple project activities simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with the planning, execution, and closeout of substation construction projects.
- Support below-grade activities including earthwork, drilled piers, foundations, grounding systems, duct banks, underground conduit, and cable trenches.
- Support above-grade activities including structural steel, control buildings, bus systems, and high-voltage equipment installation.
- Prepare and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and progress reports.
- Coordinate procurement activities, material deliveries, subcontractors, and vendor communications.
- Track project costs, change orders, requests for information (RFIs), and submittals.
- Assist with contract administration and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with field supervision, engineering, safety, quality, and client representatives.
- Participate in project meetings and provide documentation of action items and project status.
- Monitor project progress to identify and help resolve schedule, cost, and resource issues.
- Assist in developing work plans, manpower forecasts, and equipment requirements.
- Maintain project records and support project closeout activities.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience in project engineering, project coordination, construction management, or project management within utility, industrial, heavy civil, or electrical construction.
- Working knowledge of substation construction and utility infrastructure projects preferred.
- Understanding of Civil Construction practices for Grading, Foundations and Underground Utilities.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contract documents.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business. Equivalent field experience will be considered.
- Experience with HeavyJob, Spectrum, Timberline, Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar construction management software.
- Experience supporting electrical substation, transmission, power delivery, or utility construction projects.
