Responsibilities
- Locating, applying for, and administering grants on behalf of our clients, which include local governments, agencies, and organizations.
- These grants may be used as funding for a variety of public infrastructure development and projects.
- Funding sources may include federal, state, and local agencies, as well other sources such as Legislative Appropriations, foundations, or other third-party/private organizations.
- Establishing organizational tools to facilitate grant management.
- Leveraging data management tools to organize grant information.
- Maintaining the annual program calendar by strategic business planning (identifying clients, projects, and grants that align and proposing targeted outreach to internal partners and clients)
- Researching and being fluent in the requirements of a wide variety of grants and third-party funding opportunities.
- Developing/assisting in creating grant proposals. Completing grant-specific reports and writing and assembling the grant application.
- Partner with engineering and planning teams to match appropriate grants to client needs.
- Directly communicating and coordinating with the client.
- Coordinating with internal partners at Kimley-Horn regarding technical aspects of the grant application requirements.
- Supporting the engineering team in third-party funding applications.
- Coordinating with our marketing team for graphics and support.
- Managing grant submittals as requested on behalf of client.
- Other similar duties may be assigned.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Planning, Finance, English, Public Administration, Business, Communications, Marketing, or related
- 4+ years of experience in grant writing, administration, and management
- Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization and externally to clients.
- Highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to elevate others and work well in a team environment.
- History of successfully writing and winning grants.
- Flexible and adaptable to evolving market needs and internal processes.
- History of working in teams and providing a collaborative environment, and consensus-building with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong ability to gather, interpret, and convey technical information.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
