Sussex Conservation District is hiring an Accountant for stable, meaningful work protecting the soil, water, and natural resources of Sussex County — with a State of Delaware pension, predictable weekday hours, and a collegial team where your work is visible and valued.

What you'll do

● Own the books: general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations

● Process payroll and payroll tax filings

● Manage grant and federal program accounting and compliance

● Own month-end and year-end close and audit preparation for the annual audit

● Keep clean, audit-ready records in our accounting system (Sage)

What we're looking for

● At least four years of accounting experience

● Payroll and payroll tax experience

● Experience with Sage or a similar accounting system (QuickBooks and others welcome)

● Government, nonprofit, or federal grant accounting experience strongly preferred

● Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field

● CPA or CGFM a plus — not required
