Title: Accountant I, Accounting
Job Summary:
A highly motivated Accountant I is sought to support manufacturing operations within a rapidly expanding renewable energy environment. This role will play a critical part in financial reporting, cost accounting, and operational support, contributing to improved efficiency and accuracy across solar manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for manufacturing operations
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Support cost accounting, including standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis (labor, materials, and overhead)
- Partner closely with plant operations to analyze production performance and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Monitor inventory transactions and cycle counts, ensuring accurate reporting of raw materials and finished goods
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and corporate policies
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Support internal and external audits, including SOX compliance (if applicable)
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives within accounting workflows
- Provide financial insights to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting and inventory management
- Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and data analysis
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- CPA or CMA designation preferred
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, filing, and operating office equipment
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to lift and carry light office materials (up to 10–15 lbs.), such as files or office supplies
- Visual acuity to read computer screens, documents, and reports
- Ability to attend meetings and interact with employees, customers, and vendors
