What You’ll Do
- Analyze financial and accounting activities to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP, government requirements, and RUS guidelines.
- Identify trends, variances, and opportunities to strengthen financial accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls.
- Prepare budget variance analyses for operating expenses, capital expenditures, and other management reporting needs.
- Collect, organize, and analyze information used to develop the annual budget.
- Manage and monitor short-term cash investments and help secure cost-effective banking services.
- Provide monthly analysis and reconciliation support for balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and submit loan applications and request loan funds as needed.
- Prepare audit workpapers and coordinate finance-related audits, including RUS, FEMA, insurance, and the annual financial audit.
- Ensure required government, RUS, IRS, and payroll-related reports are accurate and submitted on time.
- Provide financial, budget, and cost-control guidance to departments and district offices.
- Serve as a backup to the Staff Accountant and assist with finance software, database installations, and data extraction.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
- Strong technical knowledge including developing Power BI dashboards and advanced excel skills.
- Demonstrated experience with budgets, forecasts, financial analysis, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to complete the RUS Borrowers’ Accounting course within a reasonable period after hire if you do not already have RUS experience.
- Some irregular hours may be required when assignment deadlines are inflexible. Availability may also be needed during adverse weather conditions, major storms, or outages.
- This hybrid role includes work at an EnergyUnited office and from home. Periodic in-office attendance is required for meetings, training, performance reviews, and other business needs.
- Employees in non-direct operational positions must establish their domicile within one of the 19 counties served by EnergyUnited or within a 40-road-mile radius of an EnergyUnited office.
