Job Purpose
To support the effective implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) throughout South Carolina by serving as the IDEA State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Report (SPP/APR) Coordinator and as the SCDE point of contact for IDEA local educational agency (LEA) Determinations and the tiered system of LEA support.
Responsibilities
- As the SPP/APR Coordinator in the Office of Special Education Services, this person coordinates activities to measure LEA implementation by LEAs in collaboration with office and other department staff. This includes coordinating and training stakeholders on effective implementation of the IDEA and measuring progress with South Carolina's SPP/APR submissions.
- Responsible for the development, compilation, analysis, and reporting of programmatic data and stakeholder input required for SPP/APPR submissions under the IDEA.
- Works on the SSIP (SPP/APR Indicator 17) Team to develop the necessary documents and descriptions, collect and analyze data, and review processes and procedures to ensure effective planning and implementation for the State's SSIP.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Coordinates the implementation of South Carolina's IDEA LEA determination system and the tiered system of technical assistance that is based on LEA determinations.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree and experience in education, management or business.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree or higher, at least four (4) years of experience with the implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) at the state or school district level, and experience reviewing and analyzing IDEA data, including the State Performance Plan and Annual Performance Report (SPP/APR)
