Summary

This position is in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO). OCFO provides staff leadership and administrators financial, budget, and performance management programs necessary to support FSIS programs and administrative activities. It also develops and implements financial/accounting/budget and performance improvement policies and procedures for FSIS. OCFO has responsibility for all FSIS financial management, strategic planning, and budget and performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that demonstrates the statements below: Researched, analyzed, and resolved inconsistencies in internal financial reports to ensure accuracy and alignment with program requirements; Conducted in-depth analyses of financial transactions to identify issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions; Ensured the reasonableness, reliability, and accuracy of financial data through comprehensive review and verification practices; Interpreted complex and ambiguous financial management and accounting guidelines, applying advanced technical judgment to resolve issues; Assessed the implications of adopting financial proposals and policy changes, providing recommendations based on sound financial analysis; Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
