This role is 100% on-site.
The Business Specialist may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties:
- Create purchase card requests with required justifications & approvals for the Administrative Business Unit Team.
- Reconcile or dispute transactions upon receipt of statement.
- Provide customer service with attention to detail and sense of urgency for the clients of Glenn Research Center.
- Follow Service Level Agreements established to processes work transactions based on client's expected volume throughput.
- Understanding policies: Must understand and adhere to their organization's policies and procedures for purchase cards.
- Following procurement regulations: Must set up purchase card orders for the purchase of goods and services in accordance with procurement regulations and internal office procedures.
- Possesses a basic understanding of accounting systems, policies, and procedures in performing the examination, verification, and maintenance of accounts and accounting data.
- General knowledge of existing accounting systems, standard accounting codes, classifications, and terminology; an understanding of agency accounting policies, procedures, and requirements; and the ability to apply various accounting methods, forms and techniques.
- Supports supervisory and executive staff by performing various accounting and clerical tasks.
- Prepares Purchase Requests (PRs).
- Familiar with standard accounting concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Prepares, enters data, and submit Travel Authorizations & Expense reports for travelers.
- Makes travel reservations in the Agency system.
- Develops travel amendments if necessary.
- May provide interpretation and guidance to staff regarding Federal Travel and other regulations related to financial management practices and its effect on financial management programs.
- May execute transactions to support travel activities for the center while assuring proper accounting for resources and expenditures carried out in support of projects and programs.
- 0-2+ years of experience in related field.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Prior analytical experience.
- Candidates for this position must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite with specialized skills in Excel.
- Candidates for this position must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Public Trust - Candidates for this position must be submitted for a background investigation in order to satisfy government requirements.
