CONSTRUCTION PLANNER / SCHEDULER / PROJECT CONTROLS – Industrial Construction
Our client is an industrial construction contractor experiencing significant growth across data centers, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, battery and microelectronics, clean manufacturing, and other advanced industrial markets.
We are seeking a Project Controls professional to support multiple large-scale industrial construction projects throughout the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana region.
This is a highly project-organizational and data-driven position where Primavera P6 is central to the role. You’ll work closely with multiple Project Managers, field leadership, clients, subcontractors, and project teams to develop and maintain schedules, track progress, identify risks, and help keep complex projects moving forward.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop, maintain, and update Primavera P6 schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
• Facilitate planning sessions to establish project execution plans, work sequencing, and detailed schedules.
• Monitor project progress and identify schedule variances, risks, critical path impacts, and recovery opportunities.
• Analyze actual project performance and update schedules accordingly.
• Develop resource-loaded schedules, craft loading plans, labor forecasts, and productivity tracking.
• Track physical progress, productivity, milestones, and key project metrics.
• Correctly code project activities within P6 and maintain schedule integrity.
• Coordinate scheduling with engineering, procurement, construction, subcontractors, clients, and field leadership.
• Prepare client-facing schedule and project-controls reports.
• Support forecasting, cost reporting, and earned value analysis.
• Participate in project meetings and provide schedule guidance to project teams.
• Conduct routine field observations to verify schedule status and project progress.
• Support multiple Project Managers and projects simultaneously, prioritizing where schedule attention is most critical.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 is essential.
• Experience in project controls, planning, scheduling, or construction scheduling.
• Industrial or large-scale construction experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with resource loading, schedule analysis, forecasting, and project reporting.
• Familiarity with CPM scheduling methodologies.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and large amounts of project data.
• Comfortable working directly with Project Managers, field teams, clients, and subcontractors.
• 5+ years of experience is ideal; however, candidates with 2+ years of strong, hands-on Primavera P6 experience may be considered.
• Bluebeam experience is helpful but not required.
WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY STANDS OUT:
Primavera P6 may account for approximately 60–75% of your time, giving a strong scheduler the opportunity to use and deepen their expertise on sophisticated industrial projects.
You'll support multiple Project Managers and multiple projects, gaining broad exposure to major industrial construction work rather than being tied to a single project or client.
The company is experiencing significant growth in data centers, semiconductor, battery/microelectronics, pharmaceutical, clean manufacturing, and advanced manufacturing, creating opportunities for continued professional growth.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
• $120,000–$195,000+ base salary, depending on experience and level
• Annual bonus and profit sharing
• Additional straight-time compensation for hours worked over 40
• Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with medical coverage available with no waiting period
• 401(k) with company match and profit sharing
• PTO beginning day one, plus paid holidays and sick time
• Additional benefits included
CAREER GROWTH:
This organization offers a genuine long-term career path. High-performing employees can progress toward management, senior leadership, and potentially shareholder/ownership opportunities.
LOCATION & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is an on-site position, with time split between the Munster, Indiana office and industrial project sites throughout the Chicagoland / Northwest Indiana region.
This is not a remote position. Project schedules may begin early, commonly around 7:00 AM, depending on project and client requirements. Various scheduling models may be used depending on project needs.
