We are currently seeking a detail oriented Financial Analyst for our Calgary, Alberta location. This position will help drive informed business decisions through accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and strategic analysis. In this role, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to evaluate financial performance, identify trends and opportunities, and support budgeting and planning initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong quantitative skills with business insight, communicates complex financial information clearly, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed performance analysis and develop project forecasts for assigned customer contracts.
- Prepare and process month-end journal entries and accruals.
- Manage program cash-to-cash cycles and customer invoicing in compliance with specific contract requirements.
- Support the development, monitoring and management of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
- Ensure adherence to corporate policies, contractual requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Support Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) activities as required.
- Generate and deliver ad hoc management reports to support decision-making processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
- Actively pursuing or completed the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in financial analysis and/or cost accounting.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Proficiency in analyzing large data sets, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights.
- Expertise in financial modeling, accounting principles and financial systems with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage with multiple stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Strong preference for experience in aerospace, defense, or related industries with an understanding of government contracting and compliance requirements
- Earned Value Management (EVM) and project scheduling experience would be an asset
