REPORTS TO: Materials Manager
POSITION SUMMARY: This position will provide the sourcing and acquisition of materials and services while managing supplier performance and purchase order lifecycle to ensure material availability to meet AMTEC’s contractual requirements.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Generate Request for Quotes (RFQ’s) to successfully source, monitor and negotiate with suppliers, during the bid process, to obtain best pricing, quality and lead time value for the company on materials used in the production process.
- Purchase Order preparation, placement and continued administration/monitoring to assure subcontractor compliance including source justifications, certifications along with FAR/DFARS and Department of Defense (DoD) requirements.
- Administer subcontracts/purchase orders, control costs and assure on-time delivery to support program requirements.
- Lead and serve as the main contact to ensure all applicable program, company; compliance, engineering, quality, technical specifications are clearly and adequately conveyed to suppliers and other functions for accountability for program performance.
- Lead the identification, qualification, and due diligence on suppliers; seek alternates as needed and develop action plans to increase supplier performance and mitigate supplier risks, as required
- Coordinate with suppliers for returns/replenishment of discrepant material to minimize impact to production process.
- Assist in supplier audits both internal and external.
- Interface with Suppliers, Engineering, Quality, and Production to maintain material availability and flow.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

This is a Salary Exempt full-time position.
Travel
Travel (less than 15% of work time).
Required Qualifications, Education, And Experience
5 - 10 years comparable experience is required.
- 5-10 years comparable purchasing experience is required.
- Previous purchasing experience in a Government Contracting environment including FAR Clauses.
- Ability to read technical drawings, understand Bill of Materials, and familiarity with various commodities and component manufacturing methods.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, organization skills, and proficiency in Microsoft applications is required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- This is mainly an office position; however, some physical labor is required, when assisting others. This would require the ability to lift, bend or stoop as necessary.
