Project Cost Controller III
Contract Duration: Contract through 09/13/2027 (High potential for extension)
Location: Michigan (Remote)
Responsibilities:
- Track, monitor, and control project costs for one or more large-scale construction projects.
- Review, process, and track project invoices to ensure accuracy and alignment with contractual requirements.
- Review and monitor contractor costs, invoices, commitments, and overall financial performance.
- Administer and maintain project change control documentation and cost-related records.
- Support project cost forecasting, monitoring, and reporting activities.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate project cost information for miscellaneous reporting requirements.
- Interpret engineering and construction contracts and apply appropriate cost-control methodologies.
- Review and interpret project schedules to support accurate cost forecasting and project financial monitoring.
- Identify cost variances, trends, and potential issues and communicate findings to project management.
- Serve as the primary project cost controller and provide ongoing cost-control support to project teams.
- Prioritize multiple assignments, follow direction, and complete deliverables accurately and on schedule.
- Communicate effectively with project team members, contractors, management, and other stakeholders through written and verbal communication.
- Perform other project cost-control and project support activities as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience with project cost control, project controls, cost monitoring, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of project cost-control methodologies and cost forecasting for large-scale construction projects.
- Ability to interpret and apply engineering and construction contracts.
- Understanding of construction projects, contracting practices, and basic accounting principles.
- Advanced or above-average proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work effectively with spreadsheets for cost tracking, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general computer applications.
- Ability to understand and interpret project schedules for cost forecasting purposes; direct experience creating project schedules is not required.
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to analyze project cost data, identify variances, and support financial forecasting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, take direction, and complete assignments in a timely manner.
- SAP experience is preferred but not required.
Education & Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Degrees in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Business, Accounting, or Finance are preferred.
- Relevant professional experience in project cost control, project controls, cost monitoring, construction, contracting, accounting, or project management may be considered in lieu of a specific degree.
- PMI or AACE certifications are preferred and will be considered an advantage.
