Junior Cost Control Specialist

Introduction
We are seeking an analytical Junior Cost Control Specialist role who has interest in large-scale capital projects and a desire to learn about engineering, construction, cost management, and scheduling. This opportunity provides hands-on exposure to project controls within a major project environment.
Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the successful candidate will support project cost control processes, maintain cost tracking systems, and assist with engineering, progress tracking, scheduling, and safety-related activities.
This is a 1-year contract office-based position in Vancouver, BC, working 4 days per week onsite.
Responsibilities
- Promote and adhere to safety, environmental, and workplace policies and procedures.
- Track and monitor project costs to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Maintain project cost data and support reporting requirements using project controls systems and tools.
- Monitor project progress, schedules, milestones, and performance metrics.
- Support planning and scheduling activities by analyzing cost and schedule relationships.
- Identify cost and schedule variances and assist with change management processes.
- Collaborate with procurement and contract teams to understand project commitments and purchasing activities.
- Work closely with engineering and construction teams to support project execution and technical deliverables.
- Engage with cross-functional stakeholders to support environmental, regulatory, and community-related project requirements.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in an Owner’s team type environment or engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) or an engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) company managing project controls and/or administrative functions.
- Organized, adaptive, and enthusiastic learner.
- Attention to detail, punctual, and can work independently as well as in a team.
- Interested in learning about the various aspects of project delivery.
- Proficient in preparation of reports and presentations.
- Proficient user of Power BI (ability to create dashboards)
- Advanced MS Excel skills (macros level would be ideal).
- Exposure to Unifier would be an asset .
