Ursa Major is looking for an experienced Buyer to join our team, who will report to the Procurement Lead. You will increase operational efficiency by engaging with our suppliers, issuing purchase orders, coordinating deliveries, and communicating timelines to internal customers. We prefer that you are proficient in informational flow and communication, which are necessary to succeed at a smaller, technical organization. You will support the Manufacturing team while facilitating engineering goals and supporting all organizational groups.
We prefer that you are comfortable using modern ERP systems, MS Office suite, project management software, and have excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, additive and subtractive manufacturing components, services, and equipment needed for manufacturing.
- Proactively monitor and communicate with Supply Chain leadership and internal customers on the status of open purchase orders and delivery timelines.
- Negotiate favorable pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with new and existing suppliers.
- Support and help drive oversight of the supplier management system, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations (ITAR/EAR, FAR/DFAR).
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure prompt deliveries and optimal pricing.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on supplier performance metrics, delivery commitments, and corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate and support supplier non-disclosure agreement creation and processing.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple engine programs in a fast-paced environment.
- Resolve any issues related to price discrepancies, delayed shipments, or damaged goods.
- Identify and implement cost savings opportunities and alternative suppliers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Material Control, Quality, Finance, to meet project and production timelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 2-4 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain, preferably in a manufacturing environment (aerospace experience is a plus).
- Proficiency in hardware-centered production environment.
- Project management knowledge.
- Experience working in the Federal Government regulatory environment (i.e. understands FAR and DFAR procurement requirements and how they impact suppliers).
- Familiarity with modern ERP systems (experience with Odoo is a plus).
