The Finance & Economic Development department is looking for a temporary full time Budget Analyst II to join their team for approximately one (1) year.
Responsibilities
In this position you will:
- Participate in the planning, coordination and administration of the annual Operating Budget, Revised Budget and Financial Plan
- Provide support to department heads and program managers regarding the financial planning process and program status
- Perform budget analysis on salary schedules, City revenue streams, facilities costs, shared municipal agencies, boards and commissions, and other areas
- Perform other ad hoc budgeting and analysis work as needed
You will have at least 3 years of financial or budget management experience in a similar position, preferably in municipal government, with knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board standards. Although a professional designation (CPA or equivalent) is preferred, consideration will be given to suitably qualified applicants who have made significant progress towards a recognized accounting qualification.
This position requires analytical and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse team setting. Your collaborative approach and good communication skills will ensure your success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. You will be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Familiarity with financial management systems such as PeopleSoft is an advantage.
Compensation
$47.37 per hour
(Pay Grade 25, January 2026 rates)
Hours of Work
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
Additional Information
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
For temporary full-time position of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
