Job Summary

Ross School of Business is looking for a qualified Financial Specialist to support its Executive Education program. In this role, you will learn and develop skills in financial analysis, process improvement, and budgeting. You will do this by providing unit support through performing journal entries, creating and generating reports, and partnering with administrative staff to plan and review the financial success of their programs. The Financial Specialist is a member of both the Finance team and the Executive Education team. You will report to the Financial Manager supporting Executive Education.

This hybrid position is based in Ann Arbor, MI, with an expectation of three days per week on-site. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain that authorization throughout employment.

Responsibilities*

Financial Support (85%)

  • Facilitate the processing and review of invoices, reimbursements, and additional pays
  • Perform reconciliations between systems
  • Calculate allocations and perform journal entries to allocate the expenses
  • Maintain and review logs of financial data
  • Help document processes
  • Pull and organize data for use in reporting for unit leadership
  • Support payment enablement for credit cards and short codes
  • Provide excellent customer service by answering questions about financial processes and results for internal and external customers
  • Help provide data and backup to auditors
  • Support budget development
  • Process approved refunds for participants via journal entry, credit card, wire transfer, or check
  • Maintain unit contracts, review for accuracy, and work with procurement to facilitate their completion
  • Manage unit's accounting email inbox, providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers

Special Projects (15%)

  • Propose and contribute to continuous improvement of departmental processes
  • Participate on committees
  • Other tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications*

  • Associate's degree in Accounting or similar
  • 3+ years of related financial and accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and customer-service oriented manner
  • Willingness to take on new tasks and help out in related areas
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and report generation.

Additional Information

Salary Information

The salary offer range for this position is $64,700 to $79,900. Salary offers are determined based on several factors, including a candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, along with internal equity considerations. It is not common for new hires to be placed at the top of the range.
