Secretlab’s Global Trade Compliance team is an integral part of our supply chain. The team contributes to Secretlab’s success by enabling it to navigate the complexities of international trade responsibly, efficiently and effectively. The team supports the efficient, on-time clearance of Secretlab products and develops resilient duty optimisation strategies to drive success, all the while maintaining Secretlab’s status as a trustworthy operator.


The Customs Compliance Specialist is a key role that will support the team with important trade compliance and optimisation functions related to product classification, free trade agreements, customs valuation, and audits in North America.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the company’s day-to-day trade activities are being carried out efficiently, and in accordance with the company’s processes as well as legal and regulatory requirements. Such requirements include but are not limited to product classification, country of origin determination, tariff measures, and anti-dumping, countervailing and safeguard procedures
  • Provide support for import operations in collaboration with the Global Trade Compliance and Logistics teams, including reconciliation and PSC processes were necessary
  • Maintain required documentation for audit readiness and CBP recordkeeping requirements
  • Identify and address trade and customs compliance risks
  • Investigate and report trade compliance incidents to the Global Trade Compliance team, and support in the development of corrective action plans
  • Perform import compliance reviews and post-entry audits, and work with the team and internal stakeholders to address potential non-compliance or issues of concern
  • Work with the Global Trade Compliance team on initiatives relating to compliance improvements, operational efficiencies, and duty optimisation
  • Remain current with regulatory changes from CBP and Partner Government Agencies (PGAs) and provide support where necessary
  • Provide support in correspondence between CBP, PGAs, and Secretlab US
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Requirements

  • At least five years of experience dealing with trade and customs matters.
  • Knowledge of US customs laws and regulations, the HS and the General Interpretative Rules.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and investigative skills, coupled with a proven work ethic and a drive to exceed expectations.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets combined with the ability to analyse and manipulate large and complex data sets and distill that information into concise summaries.
  • A genuine interest in building authentic relationships across different departments and teams. The Global Trade Compliance team is responsible for maintaining visibility and continuously educating Secretlab colleagues on the risks and opportunities associated with global trade.


Bonuses
