The Terminal Scale Operator is the primary point of contact for customers picking up bulk salt and aggregates at our facility and coordinating salt deliveries. This role is crucial for ensuring smooth operations and excellent customer service.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Weighing and Ticketing: Accurately weigh and ticket trucks using a computerized scale program as they pass over the truck scales.
- Load Verification and Payment Collection: Verify loads, collect payments, and record customer job information.
- Professional Communication: Answer telephone calls professionally and communicate effectively with truck drivers and loaders using a CB radio.
- Scale House Maintenance: Ensure the general upkeep of the Scale House.
- Administrative Tasks: Complete all administrative tasks, including regular filing and required reports.
- Supervisor Communication: Keep the immediate supervisor fully informed of any issues or matters requiring attention.
- Attendance and Availability: Maintain prompt attendance from the required start time of 6:00 am to 5:00 pm, and work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, including data entry and minor customer service responsibilities.
- Effective Communication: Present facts and recommendations effectively in both oral and written form.
- Basic Skills: Read, write, and perform basic mathematics. Must be proactive and able to follow simple instructions from oral or written correspondence.
- Language Skills: Being bilingual in English and Spanish is helpful.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the United States without Visa sponsorship.
- Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.
- Work Environment: Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions (cold/hot).
- Attention to Detail: Must be detail-oriented and accurate.
- Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- Telephone Etiquette: Pleasant telephone manner.
- Customer Service: Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Multitasking: Ability to multitask in a dynamic work environment.
