Job Purpose:Lead - Sales and Marketing in the business development department oversees sales and marketing effort to propel business expansion and meet revenue goals.
Responsibilities
- Combined Shipping Line & NVOCC Relationship Management
- Act as the single point of contact for assigned Shipping Lines and NVOCCs
- Manage daily operational and commercial interactions with carriers and NVOCC partners
- Build and maintain strong working relationships to ensure continuity of volumes and service reliability
- Support senior management in strengthening long‑term carrier and NVOCC partnerships
- Container, Capacity & Volume Management
- Coordinate daily with Shipping Lines to ensure timely availability of empty containers
- Align container supply with NVOCC and customer demand
- Execute assigned monthly TEU and volume targets for Shipping Lines and NVOCCs
- Monitor carrier‑wise and NVOCC‑wise volume performance and highlight deviations
- Ensure optimal utilization of containers and available capacity
- Documentation & B/L Point Management
- Coordinate opening and smooth functioning of B/L (Bill of Lading) points of Shipping Lines at the facility
- Ensure compliance with Shipping Line and NVOCC documentation requirements and SOPs
- Commercial Control, Billing & Collections
- Coordinate with Finance teams for accurate billing to Shipping Lines and NVOCCs
- Monitor receivables and ensure timely collections
- Track ageing and follow up on overdue payments
- Ensure adherence to approved commercial terms, rates, and credit limits
- Escalate commercial risks and deviations to senior management
- Dispute Management & Issue Resolution
- Handle operational and commercial disputes related to:
- Container availability
- Documentation errors
- Demurrage and detention
- Billing discrepancies
- Coordinate internally and externally to ensure timely resolution
- Minimize operational disruption and financial exposure
- Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Prepare and share regular reports on:
- Shipping Line and NVOCC volume performance
- Container availability and utilization
- Billing, collections, and ageing
- Provide operational insights and improvement suggestions to senior management
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance service quality
- Achievement of assigned Shipping Line and NVOCC volume targets
- Availability of empty containers aligned with operational demand
- Timely billing and collections with minimal ageing
- Reduction in disputes and faster resolution turnaround
- Smooth operational execution and stakeholder satisfaction
- Education:
- Minimum Graduate (Regular) from a recognized university
- MBA preferred in Sales & Marketing, Shipping, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management
- Experience:
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in the Logistics / Shipping / EXIM industry
- Proven hands‑on experience working with Shipping Lines and/or NVOCCs
- Exposure to container operations, carrier coordination, volume management, billing, and collections
- Experience in ICD / CFS / Container Depot / Freight Forwarding / Shipping Line environment preferred
