Shipping & Receiving Team Member

Summary

Prepares items for shipment and verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Unloads and stacks material using forklift
• Loads or unloads materials both with forklift and by hand up to 50 lbs
• Replaces liquefied gas tank
• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items or incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, or other records.
• Affixes shipping labels on steel
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
• Routes items to departments
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
• Prepares customer bills of lading
• Stages finished product for shipment based on shipping schedule
• Loads finished product onto flatbed trucks for delivery to customers
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
• Maintains clean workspace
• Perform other related duties as required

Education And/or Experience

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Travel

• This position requires minimal to no travel

Computer Skills

• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Ability to learn an ERP system

Other Requirements

• Forklift Experience

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to read and interpret written documents
• Use and read a tape measure
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
