Position Summary
The Ice Cream Materials Handler is responsible for the accurate and timely movement of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods within the ice cream plant. This role supports production efficiency by ensuring materials are staged, tracked, and handled according to safety and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Material Handling & Inventory
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming raw materials and packaging supplies.
- Stage ingredients and packaging for production lines based on schedules.
- Move finished goods to designated storage or shipping areas.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and update ERP or tracking systems.
- Ensure proper labeling and lot traceability for all materials.
- Follow HACCP, SQF, and FDA guidelines for food safety and sanitation.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Perform routine checks and report any equipment issues promptly.
- Adhere to all plant safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Maintain clean and organized staging and storage areas.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations preferred.
- Food manufacturing experience a plus.
- Ability to operate forklifts and obtain certification.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills for inventory tracking.
- Subject to up to at least 92db’s
- Lifting: up to 20 lbs. occasionally
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, on a regular basis
- Reaching: Extending hands and arms in any direction
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist occasionally
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities that must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
