Short Description

We are searching for an experienced Barge master to join a cable laying project onboard multipurpose pontoon barge in German waters capable of keeping the movement of the barge on an anchor mooring spread and winch operation experience.

Function Description

If selected to join as a Barge master onboard a Pontoon barge in German waters, here's what you can expect:

  • The Barge Master is responsible for the safe operation, stability, positioning, and marine coordination of the barge or marine spread during offshore, nearshore, or port operations.
  • Winch Operation: Safely execute winch operations for anchoring, mooring, barge positioning, and station keeping in accordance with approved procedures; monitor line tension and equipment condition; coordinate with deck crew, and supporting vessels.
  • Spud pole operation: Lowering spud poles to reinforce the station keeping capabilities of the cable lay barge during longer stationary periods or anchor repositioning.
  • Coordinating with anchor handling vessels: Ensure safe and efficient marine operations by communicating and coordinating with anchor handling vessels during anchoring, towing, and positioning activities. Align barge movements with vessel operations to maintain stability, proper line tension, and operational safety.
  • Coordinating with crew transfer vessels: Ensure safe and efficient marine operations by communicating and coordinating with crew transfer vessels when coming alongside for crew transfers.
  • Safety compliance & safety management: Knowledge of emergency response and safety protocols in Winch operations, including emergency shutdown (ESD) procedures. Ensuring strict compliance with safety regulations and OIM’s Instructions.
  • Emergency response: Acting swiftly and effectively during emergency situations, including responding to alarms and participating in safety drills.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborating with the offshore team, other managers, client and project leads to ensure a coordinated and effective approach to offshore installation activities.
