Our client is a leading cask storage facility based in Co. Louth, providing flexible blending, storage, and bottling solutions to customers across the global spirits industry. Operating from a modern, purpose-built bonded warehouse, the facility utilises state-of-the-art blending, bottling, warehousing, and liquid handling technologies to deliver premium quality spirit products while maintaining the highest standards of compliance, traceability, and operational excellence.
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Liquid Control & Blending Specialist to take ownership of liquid operations, blending activities, inventory management, regulatory compliance, and spirit dispatch processes.
The Role
The Liquid Control & Blending Specialist is responsible for the management, control, movement, blending, storage, and release of spirit products across the site and external storage locations. This position will be supported by a blending operative.
This is a hands-on and highly technical role that combines blending expertise with stock management, production planning, quality assurance, warehousing, compliance, and continuous improvement. Working closely with senior management, production, quality, and external warehousing partners, the successful candidate will ensure all liquid operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory and customer requirements.
The role is key to producing world-class spirits, ensuring product consistency, maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting product innovation, and overseeing the release of liquid for both bottling operations and international tanker dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
- Blending & Product Development
- Work closely with the Master Blender and management team to support innovation and the development of new whiskey products.
- Blend whiskey and spirit products in accordance with approved recipes, customer specifications, and production requirements.
- Monitor blend consistency and quality standards throughout the blending process.
- Conduct sensory analysis and quality assessments of spirit products, including new make spirit.
- Investigate and report any blend inconsistencies or quality concerns.
- Ensure all liquid make-ups are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain the highest standards of product quality and integrity.
- Liquid Control & Inventory Management
- Manage the inbound receipt and recording of all liquid entering the site.
- Maintain accurate bonded warehouse liquid inventories and stock records.
- Take responsibility for warehouse spirit stocks and cask inventory management.
- Manage liquid stocks held at third-party storage locations.
- Coordinate liquid call-offs to meet production schedules and customer demand.
- Conduct stock reconciliations and regauge checks.
- Support liquid purchasing activities and production planning requirements.
- Utilise the latest technologies and systems to track inventory, production, and distribution activities.
- Cask Management
- Manage cask filling, disgorging, storage, and movement activities.
- Disgorge whiskey casks for bottling operations and bulk customer orders.
- Conduct cask inspections and arrange repairs when required.
- Monitor cask condition, stock levels, and storage requirements.
- Ensure complete traceability of all cask movements and operations.
- Oversee the release of liquid for tanker loading and international bulk spirit transport.
- Ensure all liquid released from site meets approved quality and specification requirements.
- Coordinate tanker dispatch activities and related documentation.
- Manage all traceability and compliance requirements associated with bulk spirit movements.
- Compliance & Regulatory Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records relating to:
- Filling operations
- Disgorging activities
- Blending processes
- Sampling records
- Stock movements
- Spirit transfers
- Excise and Revenue reporting
Ensure compliance with Irish Revenue, Customs, Excise Duty, and bonded warehouse regulations.
Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Liaise with Revenue, Customs, and Excise authorities in conjunction with site management.
Ensure all operational paperwork and records are completed accurately and on time.
Quality & Laboratory Support
- Assist with the setup, maintenance, and operation of the onsite laboratory.
- Work closely with the Quality Manager to maintain testing and quality records.
- Conduct routine sampling and quality checks.
- Support quality assurance activities and product release processes.
- Ensure all spirit products are released in specification for production and customer requirements.
- Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Operate and support plant-wide PLC-controlled systems and liquid handling equipment.
- Monitor and troubleshoot production and process equipment.
- Work with maintenance personnel and external contractors to resolve technical issues.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, quality, and productivity.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Promote best practice in operational excellence and manufacturing standards.
- Leadership, Training & Site Support
- Assist management with the training and development of new employees.
- Support and oversee interns and developing team members.
- Demonstrate leadership and encourage a positive team environment.
- Provide technical support and guidance across site operations.
- Participate in technical visits and tours for customers and industry stakeholders.
- Act as a technical resource for operational and production-related queries.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that all blending, liquid control, warehousing, stock management, tanker dispatch, and compliance activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and accurately. They will contribute to product innovation, maintain the highest standards of quality and traceability, and support the continued growth and success of our client within the global spirits industry.
