Al-Marasi National Company is sister company of Al-Marasi International which is an Iraqi company established in 2007. The company supplies a wide range of commodities and provides project logistics, package delivery, and equipment leasing services. Al-Marasi is recognized for its expertise in logistics services, including heavy lift transportation and installation. Originally registered in Basra in 2006 as a General Trading and Maritime Services Company, it has expanded its operations across Kuwait since 2008, serving diverse clients and industries.
Role Description The Freight and Customs Clearance Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Kuwait with the option to travel through GCC, Jordan, Syria and Iraq.
The coordinator manages end-to-end import processes, including documentation preparation, customs clearance, and coordination with customs authorities, shipping lines, and freight forwarders.
Day-to-day responsibilities include arranging ocean freight bookings, tracking shipments, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and resolving any clearance issues or delays. The role involves the following tasks:
- Arrange and follow up container bookings and sea freight shipments.
- Coordinate container release and collection with shipping lines and customs brokers.
- Follow up import customs-clearance procedures and ensure the timely availability of required documents.
- Arrange local transportation for deliveries within Kuwait or cross-border transport to Iraq.
- Coordinate with customs brokers, trucking companies, warehouses, shipping lines, and customers.
- Monitor shipment status, port free time, container returns, and delivery schedules.
- Support import and export documentation in accordance with Kuwait requirements.
- Maintain accurate operational files and provide regular updates to management and customers.
Qualifications
- Practical experience in sea freight, import customs clearance, freight forwarding, or logistics operations.
- Good understanding of Kuwait import/export procedures and documentation.
- Previous experience with a freight forwarder, shipping agent, customs broker, or logistics company is strongly preferred.
- Ability to coordinate several shipments and follow up closely with different parties.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- English proficiency is preferred; Arabic is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic logistics management tools; familiarity with ERP or TMS systems is an advantage.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and strong organizational skills for managing multiple shipments and deadlines.
- Relevant diploma or bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, supply chain, or a related field is preferred.
Remuneration
Salary: KWD 350–600 per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
