The Shipping and Receiving Clerk role is designed to ensure accurate receipt and stocking of products and accurate shipment and delivery of products. This job requires a commitment to safety, quality, and concern for the customer’s needs in accordance with all company and ISO 9001 standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following and additional duties as assigned.
- Maintain a clean and neat work environment.
- Properly job in and job out of work orders for job tracking.
- Receive freight/packages and check for accuracy vs. packing slips.
- Distribute materials to appropriate departments.
- Places stock on correct shelves or racks.
- Perform routine inventory cycle counts.
- Perform final quality check of orders before loading.
- Load truck.
- Record delivery information on the packing list as needed.
- Drive truck to deliver items ordered by the customer and pick-up materials.
- Obtain customer signature on receipt for pickup/delivery and issue customer receipt.
- Clean inside of truck.
- Perform routine maintenance on truck.
- Keep focus on safety, quality, and timeliness.
- Compliance with all company policies, including Drug-free workplace.
- Location: Warehouse, shipping and receiving department.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, crouch, and bend while working with steel materials.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally.
- Push / Pull boxes and freight.
- Pull and tighten tiedowns on delivery loads.
- Work Schedule: In general this job is performed Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a 1 hour lunch. Occasional weekend and overtime work as required.

Requirements
Qualifications and Competencies
- Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
- Experience: No experience required. 1 year of experience, including forklift and overhead crane preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to compare work orders against product to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Team Work: Effective communication skills for collaboration and reporting.
- Certifications: A valid, current, state-issued driver’s license. Must be able to obtain both an Alabama State Port Authority ID and a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Attention to detail, with strict adherence to company standards.
- Ability to work within a team to achieve quality and time objectives.
- Business Accumen: ability to communicate with customers directly, learn and demonstrate knowledge of the market and competition.
