General Job Responsibilities
- Accurately matches product to be shipped with customer order and verifies order for accuracy.
- Prepares orders for shipment (boxing/skids) ensuring product will not be damaged during transportation.
- Notifies Manager of any discrepancies with customer orders and/or orders that cannot / will not ship.
- Uses overhead crane, tow motor and/or hand truck to load product on vehicles for shipment.
- Weighs all outgoing materials and determines the most economical method to ship.
- Prepare and maintain records of shipments and receipts as required to provide tracking and traceability.
- Ability to work overtime as required, which can be frequent during busy times.
- Keep work area orderly, clean, and safe.
- Must exhibit interpersonal skills sufficient to perform as an active team member.
- Perform other duties as assigned and/or requested by Company Management.
- Must have a high school diploma or acceptable equivalent.
- Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.
- A minimum of two years of shipping experience preferred.
- UPS software experience desired.
- Must be able to safely operate tow motor and other material handling equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Stand frequently, walk frequently and sit rarely.
- Conduct all interaction with customers, representatives, co-workers, and supervisors in a focused, positive, courteous, and respectful manner.
- Regular attendance is an essential element of the job. Unplanned absences have the potential to impair the operation of the department and diminish effectiveness of the company.
