Role Description The Import Entry Writer is a full-time, on-site role based in Schaumburg, IL, responsible for preparing and processing import documentation in compliance with U.S. Customs and other regulatory requirements. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing commercial invoices and shipping documents, entering data into customs brokerage systems, and ensuring correct classification, valuation, and duty assessment for imported goods. The role involves communicating with clients, carriers, and government agencies to resolve documentation issues, obtain missing information, and monitor shipment status. The Import Entry Writer will also maintain accurate records, support audits, and help identify process improvements that enhance efficiency and compliance within the import operations team.

Qualifications

  • Experience with import documentation, customs entry writing, and basic knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and trade compliance.
  • Strong data entry, document review, and attention to detail skills to ensure accuracy in all records and filings.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with clients, carriers, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with office software and logistics or brokerage systems; ability to learn new digital tools quickly.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple shipments, deadlines, and priorities efficiently.
  • Ability to work on-site in Schaumburg, IL, in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Prior experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or logistics is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in logistics, business, or a related field is a plus.
