We're seeking an experienced and hands-on Lead Storemen / Fork Hoist Operator to support the day-to-day operations of our logistics division servicing Waiheke and Great Barrier Islands.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the smooth, safe and compliant handling of all inbound and outbound freight. You will oversee the accurate documentation/scanning of all inbound/outbound freight, while ensuring freight is loaded securely and ready on time to meet daily sailing schedules.

This role operates primarily Monday to Friday, with start times between 5am and 6:00am and finishing between 3:00pm and 4:00pm. There may be occasional Saturday work required to support operational requirements, including weather-related sailing disruptions.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Support day-to-day warehouse and yard operations
  • Ensure all freight is sorted, receipted, labelled, scanned and accurately allocated to manifests & destination
  • Load and unload trucks and trailers safely and efficiently
  • Verify all documentation, consignment notes, scanning of and Dangerous Goods requirements
  • Ensure loads are secured, compliant and within legal weight limits
  • Monitor and maintain safe traffic flow and site conditions
  • Ensure all chilled and frozen goods are checked, stored promptly and correctly
  • Maintain a clean, organised and hazard-free site internal/external
  • Provide coaching, direction and support to fellow team members
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service to internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Forklift licence
  • Full Class 1 licence or higher
  • Dangerous Goods Certificate
  • Current First Aid Certificate (advantageous)
  • Good command of English & high level of numeracy
  • Strong understanding of safe loading, strapping and freight handling
  • Experience handling, loading, scanning and unloading oversized freight such as 10-14 metre timber, water tanks and other large freight (advantageous)
  • Ability to accurately interpret freight documentation and load plans
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritise under pressure
  • Proven experience in linehaul night loading, logistics or freight environment
  • Leading hand or supervisory experience
  • Reliable transport to support early morning starts
