About the Role
The Shift Manager is responsible for managing and organizing work activities of the department per shift and coordinating with other ATI operating units in effectively implementing terminal operations procedures and system.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversees day to day activities of vessel & yard operations and coordinates with other operating units that may affect vessel & yard operations ensuring minimum possible ship turnaround time and truck turnaround time.
- Coordinates with the Planning Manager in preparing the placement of berth markings (bridge stop) on the assigned berths of arriving vessel as specified in the Daily Berthing Order Summary (DBOS) and Container Freight Station (CFS) work plan.
- Coordinates with the Berth Management Office in informing the attending Harbor Pilot is properly informed of the berth mark prior to vessel docking either by telephone or marine radio.
- Report any claim on damage to pier berth facility ie fenders, gutters, bollards and crane rails to the Planning Manager.
- Ensures sufficient presence of line handling personnel (linemen) during docking and undocking of vessel.
- Supervises vessel docking and undocking. Ensures that docking vessel follow the set berth mark so that other incoming vessels will have adequate space for docking.
- Ensures that work programs are approved by the Chief Officer before commencing work. Reviews work programs and coordinates with the Planning Manager for any revision or adjustment based on operational constraints to ensure efficient vessel operations and meet the productivity target.
- Ensures that adequate manpower and equipment are deployed on each vessel and CFS.
- Ensures that pertinent vessel information and documents including special instructions regarding re-stow, transshipment, reefer DG cargoes, OOGs and uneven weight are properly disseminated to the Vessel Supervisors and other Operations personnel.
- Reviews and confirms accuracy of electronic Ship Working Logs (eSWL) of vessels worked on during the shift.
- Ensures that company policies, standard operating procedures and safety procedures are strictly followed including the wearing of company issued Personal Protective Equipment.
- Responsible for arranging special cargo handling equipment.
- Coordinates with Berth Management Office regarding vessel requirements for crane boom up/down.
- Prepares and submits on-time, accurate reportorial requirements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Graduate of any four-year Business course
- With 5-7 years' work experience in vessel loading discharging and yard operations
- Proficient in MS Office
- Must be willing to be assigned in shifts
