Motorman - Maritime & Shipping

Job Purpose

Ensure efficient and safe operation of marine engines and auxiliary machinery onboard vessels within the UAE fleet.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the main propulsion engines and machinery on board the vessels.

• Perform routine inspections and plan preventive maintenance on marine engines and auxiliary machinery.

• Troubleshoot and rectify engine and machinery breakdowns promptly to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.

• Maintain engine and machinery logbooks accurately reflecting maintenance activities and engine performance.

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.

• Assist in the mooring and unmooring of vessels, bunkering operations and loading and discharging of cargo.

• Maintain cleanliness of the engine room and machinery spaces.

• Support the Chief Engineer in tracking engine room inventory and equipment repair.

• Identify opportunities for engine room efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

• Preparatory School

• Valid STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers)

• Excellent English. Arabic is an added advantage

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role

Required Skills

• Experience as a Motorman in the maritime industry.

• Strong understanding of marine engineering principles.

• Hands-on experience in engine maintenance and repair.

• Cultural sensitivity and adaptability.

• Able to design and deliver different training programs, as well as to act as a coach and mentor to employees.

• Problem solving and attention to details.
